Manitoulin's comprehensive safety program includes initiatives to ensure those who work here do so in a safe environment.

Manitoulin Transport has developed a training program which has set the standard in the transportation industry. As a result of the standards, the Ontario Provincial Police have partnered with Manitoulin in a program to promote highway safety.

At Manitoulin, safety is Job 1. Our drivers participate in extensive training in the areas of:

• Defensive driving
• Transportation of Dangerous Goods
• Accident reporting
• Load Security
• Safe Work Practices
• Pretrip and Post Trip Inspections

Additionally, we require all new drivers with Manitoulin Transport to train 90 hours with the Safety Department during their first year and approximately 15 hours each year thereafter. This safety program results in Manitoulin achieving one of the lowest CVOR's in the industry.
